Three years ago, I (Charly Villain) began exploring sculpture and candle making. I was convinced that I would be holding my first finished sculptural candle in my hands after a month. Instead, I quickly realized that working with large forms and natural materials is a completely different experience than pouring small candles. Every structure behaves differently, every material presents a different challenge, and every experiment raises new questions.
This learning curve didn't discourage me – quite the opposite. Alongside my passion for interior design, I've spent the last few years testing countless materials, refining techniques, and developing my own design language. I wanted to understand how a candle sculpture could not only look good, but also feel right.
My first Apollo candle emerged from these experiments—a blend of sculpture and candle. Month by month, I learned to be more precise and to submit to the natural laws of melting and pouring. Every candle sculpture is a challenge, even though I try to simplify the process.
On Instagram, I share glimpses into this world – not perfect, but authentic. What makes me happiest is when the sculptural candles find their way into other living rooms. Each room gains a new object that combines functionality with timeless aesthetics.
